But I abstract!

It totally sucks to take pictures of paintings, especially abstract work. Everything ends up looking like an uninspired mess, when in fact, it's more of a beautiful mess...in real life. Out of the blue, my recent work has taken on heavy abstract tones and I'm rolling with it. Here is an older one that I still enjoy looking at, so it must not be that bad. Give me time 10 followers to figure out how to make them look nice, cuz I got a lot to share!

Oldies I thought I'd share.

Here are a couple pieces I've had on reserved for years now... WOW, time flies with no regard for my budding art career. I'm just now a starving artist, so time, slow down please so I can make on Interview magazine just once before I die.

Subroc

I did a portrait of one of my favorite hip hop producers. DJ Subroc, from the group KMD. He is a criminally underrated and unjustly forgotten beat miner. Died at 21 by getting hit by a car, it makes me sad to think of the all the music that was left in his soul. Check the link below to hear one ill song, KMD-Sweet Premium Wine.

Side note: I'm still trying to figure out the best way to photograph my large scale painting without them looking like blobs of nothing (they are close to that, I know, I know). I got a whole bunch of goodies to share, if I can just make em look ight.

redoing my portfolio is FUN!

Here are a few pics from when I redid my portfolio last week. It only took me 2o odd hours, but it was totally worth it. Now I don't have to be embarrassed whenever I need to show it. Go me! It's a hard sell though, running graphic design, fashion and fine arts all into one portable unit to show. Everything looks sweet cuz my folio is a double mounted beast.

I don't usually do portraits, especially of people I view as personal heroes, but I really like the way this experiment turned out. This is a reinterpretion of a famous photo of the artist Jean Michel Basquiat. I think he would approve and I hope if he was still alive he'd feel I captured a little bit of his vibe.
